The Clarion Hotel Conference Center On Lake Erie is an aging property experiencing operational challenges, highlighted by reports of malfunctioning equipment, inadequate maintenance, and staffing issues. While some guests appreciate the location and friendly staff, numerous reviews indicate significant maintenance needs and inconsistent service levels.
I stay here for work. That being said, the hotel has become pretty run down. Came in from work today, went to restaurant to eat, went to room, and tv was not working. Called front desk, only to be told she was the only one there, didn't know anything about the tv's, maintenance was gone for the day, and there was nothing she could do. Walked to front desk to ask if i could change out a tv myself. Was told no. "All i can do is move you to a different room" as she sat there with feet all up and on her cell phone. I'll stay in Erie and drive from now on i guess.
Overpriced. Needs repairs. 5 night stay and never cleaned room. Only reason for 2 star rating is Jenn, the breakfast girl. She was friendly to everyone while working so hard to keep the busiest breakfast buffet perfect.
Aging hotel well past its prime and beginning to cough and wheeze. Air conditioning was out in hotel lobby and restaurant at the hottest time of the year. Some room air conditioning was not working including ours. Our phone was dead and when we called the front desk on our cell they said many other phones were out. We had an annoying insect of some kind flying in the room. TV was primitive and baffling. Had toilet overflow incident off the lobby and room bathroom not vented and shower control broken. Other guests complained of wet sheets. Great view of lake and friendly staff who gave us free water (because the vending machine was out of service. In sum: choose this hotel if you need to save money or you’re looking for surprises.
Hotel and rooms were just ok but Jenn in the breakfast area made our stay. She was GREAT. Stayed here 4 days and really looked forward to breakfast every morning. Will come back here to fish and will stay here again just because of her. I own a business and would love to have 10 Jenn’s working for me.
I was driving back up north from Erie but decided to stay here for the night due to a severe snowstorm. It was the cheapest decent hotel around the area. Average hotel, you get what you pay for, can’t really complain much. What I will complain about though, is that the lady at the front desk was not very knowledgeable about the rooms. We requested a room with USB charging ports (which is pretty common in hotel lamps), only to go up to the room and find out there was no USB charging ports. It was also apparently one of the newer renovated rooms, yet there were stains on the floor. We immediately went back down to change rooms and got an older room, but at least cleaner, however still no USB charging. Other than that, there’s nothing else I can complain about. The beds were decently comfortable, you have toiletries like shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion all available in the bathroom, and you can call room service for extras. They however do not have slippers. There’s also an ice bucket in the room to get ice from the ice machine, which is on every floor, along with vending machines. However there’s only one water fountain, which is on the first floor. There is also a coffee machine with coffee and tea packets in the room. There is a closet by the door with a small safe. The TV also works fine. I believe they also have a pool and gym that we didn’t visit. The continental breakfast (free) was small but acceptable, as you get what you paid for. They have things like toast, waffles, eggs, sausages, fruits, coffee, milk, cereal, juice. The dining area is quite nice, with a view of Lake Erie. The best part is probably the free parking and no absurd fees (at least when I visited). Overall, very decent hotel for the price. They just need to work on training the workers better, and maybe switching lamps with USB ports.
