Great choice of places to stay as a solo traveler. It has plenty of charm and character. Service was personal. I had the charcuterie board with wine added to my reservation and the wine pairing was superb! All of the food was fresh and professionally prepared. Highly recommend!

We loved it there. !!!!! ?? It was my husbands and our first “ getaway “‘without kids. Loved having a room with the patio. Loved being a part of the Chautauqua Institution, Loved the owners Helen, and her manager Leeann, and husband Richard -and Hannah’ her beautiful Shi Zhu. !!!! We are planning on going back again. She won’t let the old class dissolve. And I respect that. ! Love her talent. And artistic touch. Love the library. Loved her breakfasts. ????And also the family feel. We are going back.

Location, Location, Location...so nice to be in our room in minutes following the wonderful evening performances at the Amphatheater. Good exercise to climb the four flights of stairs, or wait for the very old elevator. Ninth week promised dinners that they were unable to serve because of staff shortages. Lillian was the perfect and most gracious and helpful staff member. Always there, and so warm and kind. She knew everyone's names! Lovely personality! The images of the bedroom distorted the small size and think walls...conversations and snoring could be over heard...not good! The rating is based on Lillian and location! Very, very old fashioned and small furniture. Not for tall people at all. But, we spent little time there and got up early to get the best shower pressure.

We had a wonderful stay at the Spencer Hotel for valentines day weekend. I love the concept of the uniquely decorated rooms that each have their own individual charm. The family that runs the business is extremely welcoming and friendly. They serve delicious homemade breakfast every morning which was the perfect way to start the day. I highly recommend staying here.

The Spencer is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Very organized with each room having its own separate design. Loved the Jacuzzi tub to just wind down and relax. Breakfast was definitely one of my favorite times of day with their delicious homemade cooking. The dining room is set up so beautifully and they are very welcoming to their guests. LeAnn was a huge help from preparing the room to making sure I was settled, comfortable, and all my needs were met. Helen was such a sweet heart and I loved learning the history of the hotel from her. Richard always makes you laugh and is so down to earth. Hannah is the best hotel mascot! Such a wonderful place right directly in the middle of everything. Highly recommend and cannot wait for my next stay!
